General Minimum Wage Effective from 1 May 2012

On 12 April 2012, Prime Minister Nguyễn Tấn Dũng signed to promulgate Government Decree No. 31/2012/NĐ-CP stipulating the general minimum wage.
Under the Decree, the general minimum wage, effective from 1 May 2012, is VND 1,050,000 per month.
The general minimum wage stipulated in the above Decree applies to officials, public servants, public employees, persons in the armed forces and workers working at: State agencies, armed forces, political organisations, socio-political organisations; State public service units, public service units of political organisations and socio-political organisations; one-member limited liability companies in which the State is the sole owner, organised and operating under the Law on Enterprises.
The Decree takes effect from 1 June 2012. The provisions of the Decree are applied retrospectively from 1 May 2012. Government Decree No. 22/2011/NĐ-CP of 4 April 2011 stipulating the general minimum wage is annulled.
